Wasted cat

Gotta love this!
I think we've all had days like this.

Cat noses

I thought I'd put a link to some adorable kitty noses for those kitty people out there. Now we have dogs and cats. Let's see-- anyone into giraffe noses? I'm sure we can find those on the 'net.

Links

I was cruising Flickr and found some pics of home and began to feel a little homesick so I added to them my favorites and put them in the links at the bottom of the page. Nice to have familiar images to ponder.

Swell!

As you can see I have the book cover for Swell: the Girls Guide to the Good Life. This is a must read for those industrious, hip gals. It has hints for everything from making invitations out of junk mail to whistling for a taxi. Absolutely fun to read!

My thoughts on the Library 2.0 experience

I think that this was an awesome thing and kudos to the 2.0 Team! I enjoyed this immensely and will continue to use most of this. None of the items on the checklist were difficult to do and Good Reads and finding feeds are addictive. If there is a 2.1 I will definitely be participating. I now understand 2.0 and can see that it can be an useful part of library services.

Facebook

I have mixed feelings about Facebook. When I went in to create an account it asked what college I went to and if I was an undergrad or graduate. It then posted me as a graduate student at Armstrong when I specifically filled out my employment status. It seems that it is mostly for the younger crowd. I've noticed that the public computers in the library are filled with young people looking at Myspace and Facebook. When I was in college if I wanted friends I went out and got them or met them for coffee and had a real conversation. Anywho, it seems that that is the way the world operates today and it's sad. I created the most basic of pages in Facebook and will probabaly never use it. Just more of my ramblings.

Del.icio.us

Web 2.0 Awards

The sites in here are too fun! I could spend hours digging through these. I found things that I didn't know exist. I'm normally not an internet cruiser, but finding some sites in the list such as Threadless and Goowy I'm gonna do more playing on the net. Also, I can see how some of these sites are considered winners. They're very easy to use and fun to play in.

Wiki Tiki Tavi

To me, wikis are like the grocery lists of the internet- ever changing and serving a specific purpose. The idea that anyone can come along and change the page make this the ultimate community spot. I think I may have my next family reunion in one since no one can agree on anything anyway!

Crystal Ball

In some of those readings I realized how much the internet has changed in the past few years. It's gone from cruising sites to connecting with the rest of the world. Makes you wonder what else they can do and what's next. And, of course, how will this affect librarians? Virtual libraries and virtual librarians will become more and more common almost making stand alone libraries obsolete, but that's just a doomsday scenario there. There will always be a need for libraries!
